10. THE BUILD UP

I. If you are praying this by yourself:

Pray, with hands extended, as follows (v. slightly n-o-a):

The Lord be with me as,
amidst a cloud of witnesses,
I lift up my heart,
giving thanks to the Lord our God.
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
that we should always sing your glory, Lord;
but we praise you with greater joy than ever
in this Easter season
when Christ became our paschal sacrifice.
Christ, the High Priest, has entered once for all
into the sanctuary of heaven.
There he invokes upon your Church
the perpetual outpouring of your Holy Spirit.
The shepherd and guardian of our souls,
Christ calls us to be united in prayer
as Mary and the disciples were united,
awaiting the fulfilment of his promise,
the life-giving Spirit of Pentecost.
Therefore, the universe resounds with Easter joy,
and the choirs of angels sing the endless hymn of your glory:

(if you have a preferred musical version of the Sanctus, now would be the time to play it, or you may of course sing it yourself)

Holy, Holy, Holy,
Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
Hosanna in the highest!

II. If more than one of you are praying this together:

Pray, with hands extended, as follows:

The Lord be with you.
(response)— And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
(response)— We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
(response)— It is right to give thanks and praise.
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
that we should always sing your glory, Lord;
but we praise you with greater joy than ever
in this Easter season
when Christ became our paschal sacrifice.
Christ, the High Priest, has entered once for all
