10. THE BUILD UP

I. If you are praying this by yourself:

Pray, with hands extended, as follows (v. slightly n-o-a):

The Lord be with me as,
amidst a cloud of witnesses,
I give you thanks and praise.

It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Though he was sinless, he suffered willingly for sinners;
though innocent, he accepted condemnation to save the guilty.
By his dying he washed away our sins;
by rising again from the dead
he won justification for us all.
And so, with all the angels and saints,
we sing the joyful hymn of your praise:

(if you have a preferred musical version of the Sanctus, now would be the time to play it, or you may of course sing it yourself)

Holy, Holy, Holy,
Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
Hosanna in the highest!

II. If more than one of you are praying this together:

Pray, with hands extended, as follows:

The Lord be with you.
(response)— And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
(response)— We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
(response)— It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Though he was sinless, he suffered willingly for sinners;
though innocent, he accepted condemnation to save the guilty.
By his dying he washed away our sins;

And so, with all the angels and saints,

Holy, Holy, Holy,

Hosanna in the highest!

Hosanna in the highest!
